Recently, I came in to the possession of a motor test stand (RCBenchmark 1520) so I started to make some measurements and do a Setup test for the Inside F5J (Turnigy 2217 860kv), with a 10×6″ prop and a variation with the larger 11×6″ prop. First I put the props and spinner on the balancer. Remarkably, one of the props only needed a bit of sanding after which the total system was statically as dynamically pretty well balanced!

Then, I mounted the setup on the test bench and run some tests. I logged (approx.) 10%, 20%, 30%,…..90% Throttle.

The Motor/prop setups that I have tested are:

• Turnigy 2217 20turn 860kv 22A Outrunner & 10×6″ HK carbon folding prop
• Turnigy 2217 20turn 860kv 22A Outrunner & 11×6″ Aeronaut CAM prop
• PROPDRIVE v2 2830 1100KV & Aeronaut CAM prop
